Thompson’s theories on the NIE
Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson thinks the Iran intel may have been leaked by Iran itself to confuse the US intelligence community. He also claimed:
The accuracy of the latest NIE on Iran should be received with a good deal of skepticism. Our intelligence community has often underestimated the intentions of adversaries, including Saddam Hussein’s Iraq and North Korea. [emphasis added]
