Vienna, Nov 15, IRNA – US resorted to present 10-page additional questions to make recovery from the blow it suffered from transparent cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Following continued US pressure on IAEA, the US, France and UK have presented a 10-page additional question to IAEA Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei.
They made the action on the eve of a report on Iran ElBaradei was expected to release to acknowledge Iranian transparent answers to the outstanding issues about the national nuclear program.
The nuclear experts said that the agency keeps the data about nuclear programs of the member states as ‘confidential’ and the US, France and UK have embarked on extortion by seeking data about Iranian nuclear program from the agency.
“Such a request from the agency is unprecedented in IAEA history. The US, France and UK have moved to extortion when they are going to suffer a blow by the scheduled report,” a specialist on IAEA criteria told IRNA.
In the meantime, a diplomat asked not to be named, told IRNA that the US has endeavored to influence ElBaradei’s report on Iran.
“Given the report on Iran to be released later in the day, is positive, Washington is doing what it can to influence its impacts,” he said.
The diplomat said that Iran staged close cooperation with the agency to resolve the outstanding issue of P1 and P2 centrifuges and closing the case of P1 and P2 by the agency proved baselessness of the Western countries allegations against Iran.
He said that the US, France and the UK claim that Iran has started enrichment of uranium since 1980s.
The diplomat said that IAEA is the only UN specialized agency to monitor nuclear programs of the member states and that taking Iran to the Security Council is a political action.
The US is not satisfied with the current close cooperation between Iran and the agency, the outcome of which dealt a blow to its prestige, he said.
