The following is an interview with Mohammad Jafari, Iran’s Qods Force commander, with Frontline. The Qods force is accused by some US officials of smuggling weapons and killing American soldiers in Iraq. These charges are repeated daily as fact, but most news outlets do not seek any statements from Iranian officials. In the short clip below Jafari responds to those allegations.
In another part of the interview, Jafari promises retaliation against any attack on Iran.
You will not find a single instance in which a country has inflicted harm on us and we have not responded. So if the United States makes such a mistake, they should know that we will definitely respond. And we don’t make idle threats.
This contradicts the prediction of TV military analysts like MSNBC’s Col Jack Jacobs who predicted Iran will do nothing—with the reasoning that if you get your hands “caught in the cookie jar” you will just pull away.
